Make a Splash, anything to do with water! KKSC 84!!

Well, hello and Happy Saturday to you all out there, I hope you are having a great weekend. I know I will be. Actually I am cheating and writing this on Wednesday as I am heading to the airport today to pick up my old school friend, who is coming here to stay with me. I can't wait to see her.

Actually, it's a cool story, at least I think it is, so I'm gonna bore you with it. When I went to Liskeard Grammar School in Cornwall, England, there were 4 of us who hung out together. Gill, who is coming today, left school earlier than the rest of us due to tragic family circumstances, having lost her dear Mum when she was 14. Until 4 years ago, the rest of us never heard anything of Gill again till my other close pal Jen, who has kept in touch with me ever since we left school, came across her in a store and recognized her. That was about 5 years ago and the two of them started to meet for coffee quite regularly. During the course of those meetings, Gill told Jen that she often comes to Kincardine, Ont. to stay with her sister-in-law. On her next trip we arranged to meet at a halfway point for a few hours, which was wonderful and then later during Gill's stay, I drove to Kincardine and surprised her before she flew home again. That was 4 years ago, so it will be great to have Gill come and stay with me for a week of her visit this time. If it hadn't been for Jen 'discovering' Gill, I would never have connected with her again. It's so great that the 3 of us are in touch again.

Okay, if you are bored, I apologize, but I love this story. Now to this week's card. As the title says, our challenge is for our cards to have anything to do with water. Since our Marvelous Michele is the hostess this week, the randomly picked winner will receive whatever stamp she is using on her card. Since it's now only Wednesday, I don't yet know what that is. In fact, I'm not sure if Michele knows either!! Whatever she uses, her card will be fabulous as all her work is. I'm not just saying that, she's amazing!!

Anyway, I used Kraftin' Kimmie's 'Dolly the Dolphin' from the June Release. I have been wanting to colour her up as I think she's just adorable. Dolly is a new creation from our Kimmie's newest artist Emilie Goulet. I love her quirky style.

I coloured Dolly with my Copics, cut her out and embossed her with my square Nesties, then pierced around the outside of the cardstock. I matted her onto Pumpkin Pie, then onto a frame made with my Lacy Squares Nesties. I used Baja Breeze for that. I pop dotted the image layer onto some Paper Studios 'A Day at the Beach', then onto a border of Baja Breeze, which I then attached to a card base of Pumpkin Pie. I added 3 flowers down the side, added some B. Breeze taffeta ribbon with a shell charm attached to the knot. I finished up with the Mermaid Sentiment 'Swimming By to Say Hi!'.

Well, I have to leave shortly for the 3 hour trip to Toronto, so that's it. Don't forget to send in your creations to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog after you have checked out all the creations from the rest of the Krafty Girls!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Blessings,
Diana

Challenge #83. Kiddie Cards!!

Hidee ho and good morning stampers! As the title says, this week our challenge is to make cards for our little people. That's not a hard one, right? I think it's fun to make kiddie cards. I'm the hostess this week, so I get to pick!!

For my card I chose to use Kraftin' Kimmie's Dancing Dylan. I think she is so cute and so simple to colour for a nice quick card. I used some very pretty Daisy D's Sweet Baby Jane papers. It only contains different shades of pink and green and I could have added more colours on my image, but with Dylan being such a simple image, I just went with the pinks and greens. I coloured her of course with my Copics, using Neenah White card stock, I put some Stardust Stickles on her wings and on the star of her little wand. I cut out the image layer using Labels 7 Nesties, then I traced around the outside of the die using retired Mauve Mist, which is a perfect match with the papers. I then cut it out to make a border for my image. I used my white Signo Gel Pen to make faux stitching around the border. I used Gable Green for the card base with some Mauve Mist matted onto it and the patterned papers matted onto that. I repeated the faux stitching on the M. Mist border. I found some adorable matching Prima flowers, which I adhered on the right of the card, putting a half pearl in the centre. I added some smaller matching half pearls below the image layer, then I stamped 'You're Fairy Sweet' from Kraftin' Kimmie's Fairy Sentiments on a scrap of Gable Green, matted it onto some Mauve Mist and repeated the faux stitching once again. I think it's a cute card for a little girl.

Now you get to make a card for a little person in your life. You know you always need some. If you link your cards up to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog using a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp, you will be entered to win 'Dancing Dylan' since that's the stamp I used on my card. Okay, I just got an update from Kraftin' Kimmie saying that the winner will in fact get a SET of Steven Leary stamps!! Woo Hoo, now that's a treat!!

Have fun creating and I hope you have a great weekend and a great week.

Blessings,
Diana

It's Finally Here!! Kraftin' Kimmie's June Release and Blog Hop!! Yay!!

Well, Happy June Release Day everyone!! All the Krafty Girls have had so much fun with all the new amazing images we've had to work with. In case you don't know, we have yet another fabulous new artist this month and her name is Cheryl Alger. She has made us some funky and very cute beachy and sea creatures. For my card I used Jilly the Jellyfish. I'm not sure if Jilly or Dolly the Dolphin is my favourite. Or maybe Stanley or Carlos. I love 'em all!!

I coloured Jilly and cut her out using one of my Labels Nesties. While still in the die, I used some chalk ink around the edges. I used some Glossy Accents on the bubbles, then I popped the layer onto some cute beachy paper, matted onto some rose pink cardstock. I used some marigold cardstock along the top, which I had run through my bubbles embossing folder. I used a small rectangle of matching patterned paper near the bottom, also matted onto some rose CS. I added 3 small fish brads on the bubbles at the top and a cute shimmery jellyfish on the strip of stripey paper. I stamped 'Birthday Fishes' on a scrap of marigold, punched it out with my modern labels punch and that's it.

Kraftin' Kimmie's June Release, Preview 2. Cheryl's images!!

Hi and Happy Friday to all you folks out there. This is my first card for Kraftin' Kimmie's June Release Previews.

We are all thrilled to announce that Kimmie has a wonderful new artist. Her name is Cheryl and she draws the sweetest images. We are showcasing Cheryl's work today and I chose to use 'Butterflies Flutter By'! This adorable image comes with that sentiment, which I haven't used this time. Isn't she so cute?!!

I used some ATD Flutter paper, which has quite a few sheets with butterfly designs on it. I love this one, so I matted it onto some Pretty in Pink cardstock and then onto a card base of Buckaroo Blue. I coloured the image with my Copics, cut her out using my Labels 11 Nesties, then sponged around the outside with pink chalk ink before taking her out of the die.

I used a border punch on some more Buckaroo Blue and glued it down the side with some pink taffeta ribbon on it, then I made a bow with my Bow Easy and glued it near the top. I punched out a couple of butterflies and added some gems and that' it.

Be sure to check out the Cheryl cards the other Krafty Girls have made!! For that just go to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog. And make sure you come back tomorrow to see which artist we are showing then.

Don't forget that Sunday will be our Krafty Blog Hop and June Release of all the gorgeous stamps you are seeing leading up to that day!! Also, be sure to leave comments on all our blogs as you visit as one lucky person will win all the Cheryl images, what could be better?

Have a wonderful weekend,
Blessings,
Diana

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge 81!! Paper piecing!

Well, hello everyone!! (I wish I could come up with a few novel greetings for my posts, I feel very boring!). Well, as the title suggests, the challenge for this week is to do some paper piecing on your card. I love paper piecing, but usually forget about doing it. The lovely and very talented Donna Wardle is our hostess for this week, make sure you go and check out her work, it's worth the effort.

Today I have used Kraftin' Kimmie's Rainy Day Miles as I thought I would like to paper piece his umbrella. I used some DCWV Safari Kids matstack. I used some polka dotted paper for the umbrella and after colouring and cutting out Miles with my Circle Nesties, I then made a frame in Poppy Parade using Inverted Scallop Circles. I used some more of the polka dot paper on the top and some glittery blue on the bottom, then a strip of green glittery lettered paper in the middle. I backed that piece with some more Poppy Parade, which I used a border punch on at the bottom. I made a flag for my sentiment, using Wild Wasabi and sat a cute little froggie on the edge. The patterned paper is matted onto some more Poppy Parade, then some white and the card base is also Poppy Parade. As you can tell, I LOVE P. Parade and I will have to 'collect' a stash of it before S.U. takes it away again.

O.K., now it's up to you. We want to see your paper pieced creations and don't forget to use a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp if you can, so that you can be in the running to win the Lilybelle stamp, which is what Donna has used on her fabulous card!!

So make sure you link your creations up to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog for a chance to win and so we can all check out your 'stuff'.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and week.

Blessings,
Diana
